Some oversea travel agencies can book Merpati, but mostly more expensive than buying in Indonesia. The last time I have traveled in November 05 the price was Rp. 320'000 one way (about US$ 34.-). If you cannot book it overseas I suggest, that upon arrival you go to the counters of Merpati and Wings (Lion) at the domestic terminal (five minutes walking from the international), try to book the next flight, and if you have to wait too long go overnight in a closeby hotel, relax there and fly to Lombok the next day.
I have booked these flihts directly at the airport dozens of times, and only twice I could not fly within a few hours, only once I had to stay overnight. Try to avoid public holidays.
