My husband and I have stayed at ABN 4 times in the past 2 years, the last trip was just in March this year. The resort is only 3 years old, so your friend must have been there at the opening!
It is 3 luxury villas, set right on the beach and it is second to none in Bali for service, luxury, staff, peace - no shopping, no hawkers - it is amazing.
The beach is black volcanic sand, with pebbles, depending on the tides. The pool overlooks the beach and frankly, it is so lovely, that you don't need to swim in the sea. The resort does have snorkels, fins and life jackets if you want to see the reef, just a few metres from the resort beach. Just wear thongs or reef shoes if you want to go for a walk....but the resort is so lovely, that you won't need to venture far at all. I will send you some photos from our last trip.
I am Australian, so we are spoilt for some of the best beaches in the world, so for me, the beach isn't what draws me back to ABN, it is a unique place in Bali where you can truly relax and it is so small and personable, that the staff will help to make your stay a memorable one. Food is fresh, fish caught locally daily. Massages are so lovely, listening to the waves on the shore......I could continue to give you the benefits for hours, but I think that when you compare the south of Bali, with all the hustle and bustle, you will be so glad that you took the time to head to the north coast and see this paradise.....and no, I'm not connected to the resort in any way, just a very happy return customer!!
