We stayed at Santi Mandala two years ago. I would recommend it. Great rooms, some with wonderful outlook over to a waterfall (cannot remember the number, but it is at the end of the walkway) Is a popular unit, so need to ask for it. There are some villas with own pool, a little more expensive, but worth looking at. We paid 75US a night for our room, including breakfast. It is a little isolated, but they have a shuttle service to the Ubud village. There are walks you can take around the area, it is very peaceful and beautiful. Would be a great place to stay with friends. Food in the restaurant was not all that good when we were there. Probably best to stick to Indonesian food. We had room service one evening, and so were able to enjoy our meal with a bottle of wine we had purchased earlier. (Wine of the Gods, available in some Supermarkets) it was a very lovely experience, with our own candles and great atmosphere. (We asked for wine glasses and they were happy to oblige). Have a wonderful holiday.
