No it hasn't been a good year for our family - this holiday was a chance to get away and put all the hassles etc of the last year behind us. We always take travel insurance even though we have never made a claim after all our years of travelling. This policy was through Jetset Travel and was underwritten by Mondial insurance, but most insurance companies here in Oz have the same exclusions ie: no cover for losses arising from the insolvency of an airline, agent, hotel etc. What is most annoying is we booked and paid in full for our trip back in Sept (because of an increase in feul levy/taxes etc) and the tickets were issed by the airline almost immediately which seems a bit unusal. More annoying, we may have to also pay a cancellation fee for our accommodation and we probably won't get any taxes back either - not much change from our $1050 pp costs. Oh well, we can always look on the bright side - we are all healthy and together which is a lot more than some families have.
