but it makes no difference - none of the travel insurance companies here in Australia will cover clients for airlines, companies, hotels etc going broke. We were taking our 3 kids 22, 19, & 17 plus 19 yo daughter's friend and 22 yo daughter's boyfriend in Feb 06, our first trip back since 2000 and our first family trip back since 1997. We booked and paid in Sept, and even after the Oct 1 bombings (the day on which my father passed away as well)we still decided to go ahead with our plans - my youngest daughter lost a friend in the 2002 bombings, a good friend of mine lost her son and a workmate lost her nephew, so the decision to still go wasn't made lightly. We paid about $5,250 for our family's fares and the two extras paid $1050 each. None of our airfares (which includes govt taxes) will be refunded ($680) and we still don't know about the accomodation costs. It took us a while to put this money together and we just can't afford to pay almost another $3000 to still go, and given the news today about further terrorist plans for Indonesia maybe that's a good thing - who knows? I wonder if the travel insurance company will refund our money - I won't hold my breath. For all those lucky enough to still be going, take care and have a great time
