Cracker night in our household was an annual event when I was a child which we looked forward to with great excitement. The Catherine Wheel was a favourite (inspite of the name jokes). Considerably more simple than your night. We did have one year that we held it at my Uncle's farm. A skyrocket shot into the sky, sailed through the air, landed in the cow bail some distance away and exploded. The cow wouldn't go near the bail for milking for a week.
Your "show" must have been the ultimate in family cracker nights - what an excellent idea and how spectacular.
