no. You are basically facing the Indian Ocean. You will see for yourself the rollers that come in. The only decent tourist areas I found to swim in safely where you are not harassed by aggressive hawkers and the water is clean, are Pemuteran (North East coast) and Amed (West coast); although Pemuteran can occasionally get pollution problems from the sea between Java and Bali (awful - If anyone has done the mouse deer trek around Bali Barat National Park, they will know what I mean), but rarely.
