Hi!

I just have got back from a short trip to Lombok (7 days). Trekking Mount Rinjani (3700m) was defenitely the best part of it really unforgettable experience - camping at the rim of a volcano crater (2690m) with views to die for.

Most tourist book the trek through various travel agents in hotels or local touris agents; prices are fixed and vary from US$100 for a 2 days to $200 for 4/5 days per person. As usual the middlemen get majority of the money and your guide & porters get less than $5 (!!!) for their extremly hard work per trek.

I would like to encourage all planning to trek Lombok's amazing vulcano to try and book the trips directly with guides, not only you can get yourself a bargin but what s more important make sure that your money will go to people who have worked hard to earn them.

I recommend our guide - called Misanom - great person, really experienced (been a porter for 8 years and guide for 6) willing to tailor the trek to your specific needs with as many porters as you require (tent, food, etc included! - we were shocked, expecting to get a pot of instant noodles and instead seeing our guide starting to chop fresh shallots and other veggis to prepare a 4 course meal for us 3 times a day).

You can arrange the trek with Misanom on the Indonesian number 081803763553 - he speaks English, German & French.

Any questions, pls drop me a line.
