Just returned from Pemuteran and the snorkelling off Menjangen Island was great. You have to get a boat to get there - there are a number of options but we chose one associated with the Taman Sari hotel and it was a local type fising boat and great. They included snorkel and fins in the price, also lunch. There are metal structures off the cost to encourage new coral growth but as it is windy in the afternioon and at night in July/August it was quite hard to see them. Try in the morning when the wind is quieter. It does take about 4 hours to get there from Ubud or Kuta though. I believe dolphins can be seen at Lovina every day but it is about an hour from Pemuteran. if you haven't booked yet let me know and I can give you information about hotels and transport costs which are more expensive than south Bali
