I don't know if anyone has done much searching for prices on the net for hotel accommodation. I've done lots!!! I have seen that those from asian countries have their own pricing, coming under their name (with a card as proof) for those belonging to ASEAN countries, they get a significantly lower price, which would explain why there are so many in the dearer hotels. I've just been getting lots of quotes for The Legian, in Seminyak and have had the quote of $260 US if from Europe and when I said that I am from Australia suddenly it was $310 US. This is what was written to me.
"Sorry to inform you that the hotel applies different rate for Australian.
The rate is US$. 310 net/night incl. incl. breakfast, tax, & service charge."
When ever I asked for a quote, I was asked what country was I from and what nationality, any of the quote forms have these questions on it. I tell you, talk about racism, how fair is that????
Don't these hotels want Australians? Do they only want Asians? I know that when they are in Bali that they don't seem to Barter much so for the main economy, they spend more that Australians, but you just try and do that in Australia and you'd be causing an uproar in the Asian and European communities!! No way can we charge more according to your nationality, how do others get away with that?
