It is yet another blow to Bali and there is certain to be a backlash. Again those who will suffer most (SC and her family aside), will be the people who have absolutely nothing to do with it.
Does the responsibility for the resulting verdict lie at the feet of her lawyers? What could have been done that was not explored? Would finger printing the package have proved anything - you would have to be totally thick to put your fingerprints on it. This was a huge package that was specifically packed to fit into a boogy board bag. Having the airport/x-ray film destroyed in Australia seems to have been a screw-up in Australia, not in Bali and that may have been the critical piece of evidence that could have supported her claim. If it is correct that a copy of this film was requested on two occations but was destroyed some time after the requests had been made, you can't help wondering why.
Like so many people I wanted her to be innocent and to be found innocent but it seems the only defence she could come up with was to say she didn't do it.
I think like so many people I feel quite shocked and bewildered by it all.
Tragic for Schapelle, tragic for Bali.
