I have stayed there a few times, the last was in July of last year. They were converting the cottages into upmarket honeymoon cottages.
The room we stayed in was excellent, the surroundings are nice. It has a really excellent pool The staff are also really freindly and nice and Win at the pool bar can get anything for you. He got me some Umbul Umbuls ( those skinny flags) whereas I could't find them. I have walked from there to Kuta but it is a hike. A taxi from there is cheap and they do have a free shuttle bus.
A nearby restaurant to try is the pantai as it is right on the beach.
I beleive Tuban is much better then Kuta and Legian and yes it is quieter.
