When I went in August,decided to wing it, and got our driver to take us to about 4/5 different places so that we could pick one.
A place that had been recommended on this board won. The Sahadewa. Nice large rooms, and an extremely large bathtub. I think it is around 2/3 years old. I was travelling with a friend. It cost me about AUD30 per night. Is like a boutique hotel, only 26 (or 29) rooms. Small pool, beauty spa that is VERY well priced. Easy walk to all the local restaurants, shops etc.
