Madeleine McCann is still missing (as of last night). Speculation was that child traffickers were responsible; let us still hope so as this is the best of all the worst options it seems. However there has been very recent news that the Portuguese police have formally said a British man staying at the same apartments is a suspect, which is really not a good thing, as this would almost certainly mean the little girl is no longer alive. It is also an irony and sad testament perhaps that a fellow Brit is under suspicion. Perhaps this had something to do with the British specialist child abuse police officers who came to Portugal with a list of known British pedophiles who come to Portugal. People even in this region, the other side of Portugal are in shock over this event; they really do not know how such a thing could happen. I get asked all the time here if I have heard any extra news; such is the level of concern and bewilderment. This aspect or risk of life is one of the many reasons we decided not to settle in Britain.
