Hi there, we travel to Bali and Lombok regularly, I can highly reccommend the Qunci Villas in Lombok, The Sentosa Holiday Resort, The Sheraton and Sengiggi Beach Resort are also very good. Snorkelling is brilliant out on the Gili Islands and easily reached by boat, the hotel will be able to help you arrange this however keep in mind that the water is not as clear in the wet season which is when you will be there, also reef sharks (harmless but not for the faint hearted are about, feeding on the rich planctum) There is a good dive shop in Sengiggi they will be able to advise you there are also heaps of dive shops out on Trawangan Island (1 of the Gili islands). There is plenty to do on Lombok, the people are beautiful and you'll find it very affordable. Lombok is quiet and less touristy that Bali, if you want to shop and party Bali is the place to go, if you want to relax and soak up the sheer beauty of this part of the world, Lombok is the place for you. There are some fabulous restaurants and nightclubs in Sengiggi if you want to get out at night, there is also some amazing art, craft & markets also.
