The area Mark mentions is the southern end of Chaweng.It`s the area I always stay.It has the best all round beach conditions IMO, has some nice eating & entertainment options in the general area,it`s quieter than main Chaweng but still only a 20 min walk or a 5 min songtaew ride into the main part of Chaweng.

If you want the clearest water & whitest/fine sand then you need Chaweng Beach,Lamai or Chaweng Noi,the latter is a nice quiet spot.

The other beaches are ok but the water tends not to be as clear & the sand more coarse.
