Gee Laura I dunno about Bophut- its really ,really shallow a lot of the time off the beach and the sand has that slightly muddy estuary feel to it between the toes...not much around and a bike or taxi to anything...the places looked pretty cheap but 'tired 'to me.However as a bit of an old hippy it would appeal for a day or 2 I guess to me.
What about the islands off the coast in the Gulf? I have been to Koh Nang Yuan ,diving place but truly relaxing for non divers ,you won't believe the scenery of the eco resort.Some daytripper boats but if you have a place up on the hill...breathtaking!!think thats the spelling ,utterly beautiful but ordinary food and staff a bit ho hum about the whole tourist thing.PM me for photos if you like.
