The anti-smoking thing came in big in the 70s and skyrocketed from there. Mind you I'm not bemoaning the lost good old days. I gave up fags/reefers/cigars/bongs many moons ago and I'm really glad I did.

Geri, I can't remember with MAS, I think you're right they probably do serve grog. I know for sure Royal Brunei do not.
I usually have about five beers in the departure lounge before boarding (I fly business), then I have a wine with dinner/lunch and another four or five beers sometimes more during the flight. I have never felt jet-loagged or inebriated in 45 years of flying. However BobMac, I've never smoked anything, cigarettes, MaryJane or anything else.
When I was in Vietnam during the 60s, most of my platoon smoked MaryJane. The majority of them are now on the Veteran's Pension, while I'm still working and enjoying wine and beer. I think the affects of marijuana have been largely overlooked, and it is only now when my generation is reaching retirement age that the social scientists are beginning to take note of the poor physical and mental health of those who smoked pot during the lifetimes, or for greater parts of their lifetimes.
