I was quoted a reasonable price but after starting that job it turned out it couldn't be completed and I required a more expensive treatment (not much you can do about it when you're sitting in the chair with a big hole in your gum, you kinda got to go with the flow) After getting the big expensive treatment I probably wouldn't have gone for had I known in advance, I then found out that the price I was quoted was for the dentist only (her fee) The hospital then doubled that amount with other charges (use of surgery, nurse and so on) So the total amout was about 400% more than I was prepared for when I entered the place. Furthermore, it hurt like hell, and a couple of times I stopped the dentist and said "why is this hurting me so much, why don't you give me a big shot?" So I figure she was saving by trying lower level shots first. All in all an unpleasant experience. I'll be a bit more savvy in future with Thai dentists. Anyway a tip for you all. Make certain the quote covers EVERYTHING, no hidden extras. And discuss what could possibly happen if something went wrong halfway through a treatment, what that would mean in terms of additional treatments. And if you have a very very low threshhold to pain as I do, make certain you will get the most effective shot - I want my mouth stone cold dead before a dentist goes in there.

Bobmac,Its hard to get a quote on dental work Thailand or else where!

I have gum desese from smoking and no fluride in the water in the Uk when I was a kid.

A Dentist needs to be a "Regular" dentist whether Thai or not to Know your teeth and gums and to know what treatment is best in the long run.

I pay an arm and a leg for dental treatment that is cutting edge but if its not "cosmetic" It will hurt with pain or pocket!

If you have an absess on the teeth being worked on then no ammount of shots will deaden the pain Thai dentist or other.

There is no real "quick fix" To dental problems just a price difference.
