So Kitty,
back to the travellers cheques. Since we are going to be travelling for 40 days we have to budget so are not staying in expensive hotels. All hotels will have safes but whether they are in room or at front desk is the question. Therefore we will take a reasonable amount of cash but I won't feel safe enough to carry 40 days worth for me and 2 kids.
Travellers cheques seem the cheapest option for me especially if you got $50 and $100 when you ordered them. I was imagining lots of $10 and $20 and this would mean at a cost of 33bt each would be the dearer option. ATM withdrawals average $4-5 per pop plus a conversion fee (now you know why they make so much profit).
Have heard Wizard Home Loans have a card called Clear Advantage Mastercard that has no fees...Have emailed then to find out if they give you a lower exchange rate and to get in writing that there are no fees but still waiting for a reply. It sounds perfect but you know what they say about "things that sound too good to be true."
So in my case does it make sense to take TC's?
