Grace ... it was only my daughter and myself that went to Thailand, but I was buying also for my hubby and other 2 older sons, so spending money only for 2 but pressies for 5 people. My friend, her hubby and their two kids took $5000 over and actually came home with some money!!! I certainly didnt come home with any - I actually owe her some money! So ... depending on how many of you are going ... as to how much you take. Also ... we didnt drink alcohol usually at restaurants which kept the food/drink bill down a lot. I always buy a bottle of vodka and have happy hour on the balcony!!! Some people will go there and spend $5o plus a nite just on drinks etc. Also it will depend on how many tours/trips you want to take and whether or not you are prepared to bargain to get the price of these down. I actually found it easier than I had anticipated to reduce the price of trips by less than half original quoted price, which meant I had more money to spend on other stuff!!!
