As for a bungalow on the beach...yes you can get one on walkin on Ko Samet usually, though its more difficult finding somewhere at the weekend or on public holidays. I've certainly never booked in advance. Tubtim Resort is quite nice ...it was 800B last year, probably 1000B now.

Why do you want to go to Samui or Hua Hin? There are other islands better suited to bungalows on the beach.

eg Ko Phangan, an island near Samui. Just avoid Had Rin area and the full moon party... have a look at this site anyway, might give you some ideas. Ko Pha Ngan
