Default Planning Stages

Hi,

Firstly depending on the time you arrive in Bali you might like to look at staying somewhere not too far from the airport i.e. Jimbaran, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Sanur or Nusa Dua where there are some wonderful accommodation places to choose from. I'd suggest staying away from Kuta, Tuban and Legian, unless you like good dose of filth and chaos. The Kupu Kupu Barong in Ubud is about an hour's drive from the airport area so you will still have some travelling to do once you arrive in Bali if you plan to go straight there.

It would be nice to do the drive to Ubud during the day so you can enjoy the scenery and check into the hotel as early as possible to get the most out of your stay.

Amed is then another couple of hour's drive from Ubud. Perhaps you could consider staying close to the airport for a night or two, then go to the Kupu Kupu Barong and then on to Amed. Then depending on the time of your flight home plan to spend the last night closer to the airport again. It will be a long drive from Amed to the airport.

We stayed at Blue Moon Villas a few years ago and thought it was lovely. Unless there has been a lot of development around Amed since we were there it is a very quiet area. The pool at Blue Moon is quite small but certainly very adequate and with the beach just across the road you have the choice of both options. Rooms vary but if you can book the villa the views will be spectacular. Views of the ocean are just fabulous anyway and their restaurant and meals were very nice and we had not complaints at all.

There is also a place at Sambirenteng, nearer to Singaraja, called Bali Agung Nirwana. This is a beautiful property - you might like to google it.

I can't comment on other places at Amed or along the north coast except the two I've mentioned.

Also, there are some wonderful restaurants in the Seminyak, Kerobokan area - Warisan, The Living Room, Ku De Ta and Gado Gado, to name a few. I particularly love Warisan - so if you're into food it might be something you could enjoy if you decide to spend a couple of nights close to the airport.

Good luck with your planning. I'll look for further posts from you if you have any other questions.

My computer has been in crisis for weeks so my opportunities to add to the forum have been sadly lacking. I'm working to get it back to a reliable piece of technology and not a frustration, unstable bit of junk.

All the best

Catherine
