The cockroach things are "mangdar" Thais us them as a flavouring, their crushed bodies release a strong smelling flavour to chilli dips, I don't mind "namprik mangdar" it's OK. Have also tried the grasshoppers and other fried bugs at Pattaya but don't care for them. Have also eaten snake, drunk snakes blood & whisky. Years back in HatYai there were jungle food restaurants where you could eat all sorts of interesting rare endangered species. The jungle food trade has pretty well stopped these days.
