Hi Laura,
THe Aloha is on Lamai beach which is about a 20 min drive from Chaweng. Lamai is less developed but seems pleasant enough but I have never stayed in Lamai so I dont know it as intimately as I do Chaweng. On the surface, I dont think the beach looked as nice as Chaweng but it was still OK. We walked through the Aloha to get to the beach and it looked like a reasonable place, similar to the Kata beach Resort, but a little bit older and tired.
