to answer my own question if anyone is interested,
AIS and DTAC seems to be the only company offering wireless broadband in thailand,, AIS has prepaid mobile internet plans over the mobile phone that can be used on a pre paid sim card ie hotmail and internet surfing over the phone and is available anywhere there is mobile phone coverage, the same is true with mobile broadband on a laptop through a net card or USB connection.The websites are mostly in thai which doesnt help much but it seems quiet reasonably priced compared to here
