Hi Geri,

Travelling with my daughter was easy. I am a single parent so we are used to one anothers company and we have also been regularly travelling together for the last 8 years. Mainly through Indo, Bali as a base, but we have explored quiet a bit more of Indo, as well Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caladonia. She was bargaining in Kuta day markets by herself at 12 years old and getting good deals. Because of the scene in Thailand, many reffered to her as my wife (unbelievable, I know) 16 years old! We used to joke about this.

As for Pattaya, I'm not in a hurry to race back there. I hired a bike, so we saw quiet a bit in the 6 nights we stayed there. To me, if I go back to Thailand and want beaches, I will head to Phuket and surrounds. Most of the beaches in Pattaya are ruined, IMO because of the circus on the beach (deckchairs and umbrellas side by side for miles) and the polluted water due to the boats, jetskis etc. This isn't my idea of a beach resort. Patong is similar but the beaches to the left and right are much more tastefully laid out and clean and you can actually see the sand. Kata Noi and Surin were our favourites.

Food was ok in Pattaya, but we had better food in other areas ie. Kanchanaburi and the Bangkok food courts and the Chaing Mai Night Bazzar. I did like the food carts and the little outdoor cafes in Pattaya, especially the 1/4 chicken on the stick that they BBQ for you at the side of the cart.

Overall, I think that there are many better places in the world to go than Pattaya. There are definately better places in Thailand to go than Pattaya.

Just my opinion.

Dave
