Hi Sam , you are not being silly , but if you are thinking of trains you will spend a lot of time on them and it is not that cheap , unless you travel 3rd class !
Also if you check timings you will see that train journeys can take longer than road transport .
Suggest you look at the alternative of flying using the low cost or domestic airlines saves travelling time gives you more time visiting places and suprising enough can work out about same as train fares , that is if you travel on them in some comfort , not sure where and if you use trains here in UK but travelling in the far east on long journeys in the lowest class can be like travelling on the underground in rush hour , for hours on end .
