Hi all,
back from 2 blissful weeks in Ubud & Pemuteran in October. I have not posted much since our return due to being busy with work but can now see some light..... so here goes a starter!
To be honest, my partner, Sue, was a bit over Bali after our last visit in 2006 due to the down mood that we sensed. Wow, has that changed! I won't elaborate now but Bali, and Ubud in particular for us, has bounced back in a great way.
They have so much cleaned up their "act" that we almost couldn't believe it. Rubbish tipped in the rivers? All gone, all clean.
Businesses closing down? All we saw was optimism and new enterprise, new building, new warung... great!
Being pestered to look in shops etc.... Nup!
Women & children from the Kintanani area begging along Monkey Forest Rd? Gone! They are now employed selling knives etc. in the streets... I bought several from them as I was so pleased to see it.
The best we have seen Ubud since 2001.
If anyone is interested in what I an reporting here I will be very pleased to expand upon our adventures soon. Needless to say, I will be back there a couple of times next year!
