That sounds very much like the by pass that i have had done. What happens is they make your stomach about the size of a golf ball. They then bypass an amount of intestenial track. This is the bit that takes ou the nutrients this is the reason that you have to be on nutritional supplements for life. They then reattach this further down.
they dont fully understan why in most cases of type 2 diabetes this stops the need for insullin. I have not taken any since the morning of the operation.
I was on a 100 units a day byetta another injectable medication and tablets and my blood glucose was still tripple what it should have been !
I am now down to nearer normal readings with hust some medication. insullin piles on weight in type 2 people so the more you take the bigge you become and the bigger you become the more you need. can't win in that situation.
i am feling good and hope that it is the best decision that I made. i fought for 4 years for the funding from the PCT for the op.
