Hi Ed
It looks very much like a private house which would be outside the law renting it to tourists, so I can not allow it in the directory (and it would have problems being accepted in Travel Ethos), sorry. That is not saying I agree with the law in Indonesia regarding foreign ownership and rental of holiday homes, I absolutely do not, especially as most foreigners that have invested into property there were defrauded by the sales agent and the Balinese authorities / Indonesian government for allowing it to happen again and again and again. It is a joke that foreigners come to Bali and as soon as they land see advertisments for land and villas for sale as "investment opportunities" and "freehold" when they can neither own the land, the building or indeed legally rent the property out (as this would require Indonesian citizens to own the property). I believe in most countries you can own a house and rent it out to whoever you choose as long as you declare the earnings on your income tax. For Indonesia to deny foreign ownership of property, to insist rental properties are hotels and therefore require hotel operational licenses, and then sit there and watch the crooks sell worthless bits of paper to foreigners who believe they are buying into some dream not a nightmare is state fraud IMHO, as the only reason they do it is a) to unlawfully gain foreign currency and b) to set foreigners up as extortion targets. But that is the way it is and I can not unfortunately be apart of unlawful activity covered as I am by the laws of the EU, not those bent suits of questionable lineage in Jakarta and Denpasar.
I wish I had made it to Lombok; I never did, I always ran out of time, and now I regret it. I particularly would have liked to go to the Gilis and is it Kuta (not the Kuta in Bali) that is at the other end of the island with superb beaches? I did not know the (certain) Balinese derided Lombok and all I can say is shame on them; I somehow doubt the everyday Balinese do this though, surely?
