Default Advantage Plus vs Accor Vacation Club

Hi Daren, I'm sorry you've had the experience you've had with your APVC subscription, but perhaps you're a little confused here.

Accor Vacation Club (APVC) is totally a totally different product to Advantage Plus.

APVC is a time share, it carries a large capital outlay initially and ongoing maintenance levies. Depending on your level, and there are several, you have a number of points to use in a 12 month period, and unused points carry over into following years, also depending on your level there are different allocations and different restrictions. This is all outlined in a rather lengthy contract, which I would advise anyone to read very carefully before agreeing to.

Advantage Plus is a simple annual membership, there is no capital outlay or maintenance levies, just a simple membership fee; Advantage Plus has no ongoing commitment, but of course may be renewed at the end of the membership year.

The two programs are not at all similar, in any way.

Advantage plus members enjoy unlimited discounts on all accommodation with Accor throughout the Asia Pacific region; a guaranteed minimum 10% in fact that is not subject to any restrictions what so ever (no allocation, no block-outs, no room type restrictions) as well as exclusive access to specials that can save upto 50% off lowest public rates. APVC members have a set number of points that can only be used in select properties, and these points are subject to allocation restrictions, block-outs, and room type restrictions according to your level.

Advantage Plus members enjoy a dining benefit in all participating restaurants, 25% for solo dining, and where the member dines with one or more others they effectively they dine for free (2 at 50% off, 3 a third, and so on), and this is enjoyed right through the year excepting only a handful of special menu days. APCV members do not enjoy any dinning benefit.

Advantage Plus members enjoy a complimentary nights accommodation in a standard room of any participating Accor property in the Asia Pacific, this complimentary night can be used at any time of the year but is heavily subject to an allocation restriction so booking early is advised, though the complimentary night is fully flexible so if you have booked in advance and something comes up it isn't a problem for this to be cancelled and rebooked for a later date. APVC members technically do not receive a complimentary night, however they do simply use points to "pay" for their accommodation.

I hope this helps you to understand the differences in the two programs. I'm sorry that you have had so much trouble with your APVC membership, but APVC isn't Advantage Plus.

Further, I would like to add that Accor has at no point "groomed" me nor asked me to make this comment or any other that i have made previously (Accor in fact discourages employees from commenting on such forums), I do so because I am not only a consultant for Advantage Plus but also happily a long term member. My only motivation for commenting is to help people who have had problems to enjoy the membership in the same way that I and my family have done for many years. The Advantage Plus membership is one that I have been a part of for a very long time and one that I am very proud to continue to be a part of.
