I read all the reviews I can but you have to be able to read between the lines as well. Forums are great as you can ask questions and as long as those with vested interests are weeded out (sign of a good moderator!!) then you get honest opinions.

You also have to understand what the descriptions of hotels mean although Far East hotels are nowhere near as bad as those in Europe.

Webistes that give you pictures and virtual tours are helpful and I am with Jax on this, I like my comforts as I work my socks off for most of the year and like to know what I am getting. Whilst arriving and searching out the best bungalow is brilliant value for money I do like to know where I am resting my head.

I think that is why I keep going back to Thailand, but am looking at Vietnam and Cambodia, the information available and the real desire of those who have been to pass on their experiences and tips makes it hard to get it wrong.
