There are a lot of good eateries in Patong, as long as you don't trust the big touristic restaurants on beach road.
There are, nice small eateries, coming from Bangla road, going towards the north, on the road paralel to beach road.
They are on your left 300 400 meter further. I always go to the same, and have never been disappointed! It is called the cocaonut, almost in the middle. Very nice fishcakes and seafood. As everywhere, first ask for the price. If you think it is too much, then by saying this, the price can go down!
Worth, if you want a more "classic", bit upscale, is the seahag. It is in a small soi, just there where the big Japanese restaurant is on the South of beachroad.
Gay people owning this, it has one of the best green curry's of Patong among other things. It is not horrible expensive, but just a bit fancy, let's say, that a curry would cost around 200-25 baht, instead of 2-3, in a small casual eatery!
My favourite of all places is in Kata! Ratri jazz restaurant is an upscale restaurant up on a hill, near patrak road.
Best food, you can get, in a nice cosy atmosphere, with a view all over the area and beach. Tables, but also seating on couches. A nice bar, cocktails, and a wonderful band playing smooth Jazz. A lovers delight!
The food is not cheap, but i don't know any other place, by western standards where I can have a special evening like this, for the money! To Thai standards it is really not cheap!

I want to point out, that I have no connection with the place, but love its atmosphere and food!
