Thumbs up Get thee to Phuket Town

and pay half the price generally. There is the Ocean Department Store area (2 department stores there) which I think you will find offers the best choice and you will see why when you walk in; they cater for Thais (do not be afraid though, they have seen foreigners outside the beach resorts). Do some reading on Phuket Town and make a day out of it. Some craft shops there actually sell authentic Thai quality goods. Plus of course now you have Central Phuket, so maybe two days out of shopping madness; Tesco Lotus just down the road from Central and another supermarket (forgot the name) are well worth the visit. The jewelry shop attached to and at one end of Tescos is where we used to buy a lot of jewelry (for my wife).
