This is a difficult one. We were at an elephant sanctuary lat year and did not want to go on a ride but donated the cost instead. What upset me was the mothers having to take the tourists around with their baby chained to them. I can understand why as they did not want to separate them but it didn't seem right.

Not sure whether seeing them perform is good or not - the qustion must be is what would they be doing if they weren't being looked after.
