Default My thoughts on Hua Hin

I really like Hua Hin. It has a nice feel to it. Not so sleazy as the King has a holiday home here and also bans touts too. Although the tailors will still ask you, they are not hassley like other parts of Thailand.

Excellent variety of restaurants. Couple of night markets. Lovely train station (even the Orient Express comes through). Great golf courses.

We booked a private apartment for our month there. But if I was to book a hotel I would choose the Hyatt. It's about 5km's out from the centre of Hua Hin, but it's easy getting in and out. Either by baht bus, or private tuk tuk (100baht) and about 5 mins.

The hotel has a brilliant swimming pool, lots of private places if you want quiet time. It's beach front. Not a brilliant beach, but not a bad beach. Nice walking .. you could walk to Monkey Mountain. They have horses aswell you can hire by half hour or hour.

Another nice hotel selection would be The Sofitel. The Hilton is another choice aswell, but it's right in the centre (which may be a plus or minus to you ... we actually like to be out from the centre of any city) pool looked nice but the beach is better at the Hyatt ... it's really up to you with what is your priorities.

There are plenty of massage places.

The beaches are ok. Nothing like on the Andaman side, but heaps better than Pattaya.

We really enjoyed our time here and it's a place I would go back to again.

If you are interested, I do know of a nice 2 bedroom apartment that our friends stayed in. It's right next to the Hyatt, beachfront. Excellent swimming pool ... about 200+ metres long!!!

Happy to answer any more questions.
