Just returned from 3 weeks in LOS today. This may not answer your question, but is important.

One guy we met over there this time was caught taking excess cigarettes into Thailand on his first visit. He usually went to Maldives, where it is the norm to take your fortnights supply with you, but getting caught with over the Thai limit got him a trip in a cop car across Bangkok to a police staion and landed him a £260 fine. Another couple caught at the same time with Cigarettes and alcohol got a much larger fine. All for quite an innocent mistake - neither were hardcore traffickers.

Moral of the story - know the limits and don't exceed them.
p.s. I believe that the limit is 200 cigs and 1L alcohol each.
