I just re-read your post and realised that you have specified the dates that you will be in Thailand. For the time of year , Its proximity to Bangkok, beautiful less developed beaches and good reefs near by then Ko samet would be a good fit for you as well. No need to book, just catch a bus to Rayong and then a Ferry or speed boat.
