As some have previously posted there are advantages to being a member, it is not just about the free night you get...

I have been a member for 6 years now and during a couple of them I have not had the chance to use my free night (we did stay at a hotel during the year, but it was not in an Accor one as not close to where we wanted at the time) and without a problem my free night just rolled over and I have just last week used my last free night (2 nights in the last 6 months at the Novotel Darling Harbour, Sydney) I will also add that both times I chose to upgrade to a Harbour view for only $30...

During our stay we had a beautiful 3 course dinner in their restaurant with great views at 50% off (saved approx $60 each time)and enjoyed their full buffet breakfast also at 50% off saved $25 1st visit and $30 2nd one)...

During the January holidays we spent a week at a great rate, breakfast included, at Salamander Bay, Port Stephens (this establishment I had stayed at previous to it's joining Accor), at half the price I was ready to pay at our favourite place in Shoal Bay, Port Stephens and again we dined on 2 occasions in their restaurant at 50% off the bill and their fare was impeccable...

It seems Vietnam has been a sore point amongst a few of the posters here and I can't speak for that country and I have not had to book with other people so I can't speak for that either... But I will be renewing again in February for the dining discounts alone...
