The highlight of my trip there a few years ago was the private 4x4 tour. Got picked up a 7am, spent the day visiting hill tribes, bamboo rafting, elephant ride, lunch relaxing by the river, village markets, then visiting at the end of the day again by the river, back to my hotel at 8pm. Very good day trip for bt2000.

The night market in Chaing Mai is also a must do. The Pandas at the zoo are nice, but it's not a walking around zoo, so you go to see them, without walking around seeing the other animals.

3-4 days there is enough. Longer than that, and you probably will get bored.
