I think by now that you have got the picture about how things were so I am not going to labour the point any more. The nurses were lovely and one in particular said to me it must be very hard work for you to drag your kilos around !!!!
I will just say that whilst I was in a French guy came in who had been quite badly hurt with a jet ski and the night after a British guy was taken in dead on arrival after falling through a shower glass. Makes you really think….
I was finally released weak as I was I wanted to don the cozzie and fling myself on a sun bed on chong mon beach. So that is what we did. I had a very restful afternoon and then a paddle in the sea. After a short while I was tired and ready to go back to Secret Garden for a rest. We called in to a little place for something to eat. I still was not up to par so I ordered some noodle soup affair. Dave and Suze had pad Thai and we had water diet coke and a sprite all for 280 bht.
We arrived back at Secret Garden and the idea was that I would have a rest and then we would go for something to eat this evening. When we got back I decided to have my hair cut across the road. I am not totally sure that she was a hairdresser. She hacked away with a pair of nail scissors, blunt, so they were dragging my hair in all directions. It’s a good job that it’s spiky and a messed up style already…..yes ! that is a style you see!
Anyway after this I was ready for a rest so went back over the road and guess what? There was children’s party in full swing. A full blown with agadoo party. The little darlings were crawling all around our bungalow. It was a case of do I laugh or do I cry !!!
We had decided to go back to Prego to treat ourselves. It was a good decision the food is beautiful and the service excellent. I could not do it justice as my appetite was not fully returned but it was lovely.
Up the next day and a day on chong mon beach was in order. There is a lovely little eating place there and the sun beds are free in you use the eating place. I ensconced myself under a brolly and had a nice few hours doing what I had come to do. I walked slowly along the beach and past the Boathouse to the end. The massage ladies were calling out but a massage was the last thing that I wanted so I just waved back.
We needed to pack because we had an early start in the morning. We were off to Bangkok for 3 nights. I was looking forward to showing Suze this as she had not been before. We still had the car until tomorrow so we were going out to dinner in this. At around sunset I walked on the beach alone in front of the secret garden and looked at the beauty and thought how it should have been. I also thought how lucky I was, it could have been different. Not 2 months before coming out to Thailand a friend a similar age to me died of pneumonia. The guy in the shower accident apparently had 5 kids. Makes you shudder.
Packed my stuff so that I could get at the things I needed easily in Bangkok. Don’t know why I bother ‘cos I will go through it all again any way.
Went out for our last meal on Samui. Went to the Happy Elephant at Fishermans village. I had some prawns they were monsters but they did not taste of much. E just came back and had one drink and then I went to bed. Dave finished the wine box off.
Up early in the morning and to breakfast. We were all packed and ready to go. We had breakfast and then said goodbye to the owner of secret Garden. As we were leaving he said that Dave needed to settle a bill ? We could not think what for. He said that he owed 560 bht because he had deviated from the normal breakfast menu and had an omelette instead of an American breakfast !!! he paid it and then we thought after he did not take into account the 5 breakfasts that I did not have !!!!
We took the short drive to the airport and left the hire car there. When we went to check in we were asked if we wanted to take an earlier plane. We opted for this rather than hang around the airport at Samui. However nice it is once your going. We had 3 nights in Bangkok before us. We were going to have to make the most of it.
Before we knew it we were on the plane and off. I sat on a row of 3 to my self as the plane was half empty. I had my sun glasses on and I was looking out of the window. As I looked down I cried and could not stop. I did not want anyone to ask me what was wrong because I could not have put it in to words. Was it the lost holiday, being ill, going home or having to persuade Dave to go back to Samui again.
We landed an hour later in the madness that is Bangkok. There are parts that are like a car crash…….you don’t want to look but you can’t help yourself.
To be continued…………..
