Thanks Shane!
The main hike in prices seemed to be with some of the really good fake bags ... other things really seem to have remained quite consistent.
As a very rough guide:
T-shirts - B100 to B200
Jeans (depending on brand) - B300 to B700
Sunglasses - B200
Ralph Lauren cotton l/sleeve shirts - B200 (have these EVER been another price? I seem to remember them being B200 back in 1993!)
Runners - B200 for fakes to B1000 for real
Handbags - cheap fakes B200+, good fakes B1500, outrageously expensive but fabulous fakes B12,000!!!
Kids' tees - B100
Pashminas - B350
DVDs/CDs - B100 (buy 10 get one free!)
Of course things are marginally more expensive because of the exchange rate this time - on average we got about B27 to A$1.
I'll have a think about restaurants around the PP ... to be honest, apart from Jim Thompson's House we didn't eat anywhere near the hotel, and if your mum isn't very mobile, then it might be a bit tricky for her to walk over there. I've heard that the food court in Siam Paragon is meant to be very good but again, it's a bit of a logistical adventure getting over there - it's all under cover, but lots of confusing corridors, escalators etc through about three different shopping centres!
Perhaps some of the other members can help out with this one?
