Just back from Bangkok yesterday!

We sniffed around lots of the optical shops in MBK getting prices and settled on a great one called Friend Optic - on the first floor (ie up level up from the ground floor).

Walking from the Pathumwan Hotel towards Tokyu Dept Store it's on the far right hand side, closer to the Tokyu end.

We left our original glasses and in most cases it took a couple of hours to have new pairs made. Prices were fantastic - B1000 for frames AND lenses! We had several pairs made - both plain lenses and sunglasses. One of the great things about this place is that they stock original (ie expensive) frames and some really good fake ones too - so we got Gucci and Dior prescription sunglasses made in the faux frames, which look fantastic.

Their contact lens prices are amazing too ... I pay about $20 per lens in Melbourne for disposable two weekly lenses (and that's AFTER my HBA rebate!) and the identical lenses there work out to $6 each - and that was without even bargaining.

Friend Optic is highly recommended - the girls who work there are lovely and their quality and service is excellent.
