I can't really add to your Ubud eateries as they are essentially the ones we have eaten at. There is however a cheap and good local food place very near Tegal Sari which we have enjoyed called Cafe Tegal which you may like to try.

If I was travelling to the Living Room from Ubud, I would hire a driver from Ubud rather than a taxi. Not sure what the cost would be but I think it would be reasonable. My wife and I have used a driver who is resident just up the road from Tegal Sari many times and I know he and other locals would provide that service.
